A Malawi court has denied Madonna's application to adopt a little girl called Mercy James, despite being assured from her lawyer last week that it was a 'done deal'.

The reason's for the denial stem from concerns that situations like this may lead to 'abuse of the system' and 'trafficking of children'.

Madonna, having already adopted is part of a growing club of celebrities that have adopted kids from a range of backgrounds.

But Madonna hasn't got to where she is without strong will and a determination to get what she wants. She also has a famously strong take on parenting. So, can she pull some strings, grease the back channels and turn this game around?
